The new one as of now, I just haven't gotten around to seeing the original. I feel like it'd be something of a disservice to not watch the original, frankly (especially considering the new series provided a ton of enjoyment/discussion/etc for me).
Well, brace yourself for crappy old school television. I grew up watching it so it has a nostalgic place in my heart! You should read the book, too, it's good. Glen Larsen, right?

Haha, I've heard interesting things (to say the least) about the original, and am duly prepared! The books are now officially on my (very, very long) backlog. The books based on the original series (by Glen Larson, you're right) are rated much higher than the ones on the new series. Interesting.

I haven't actually seen the new series, although the news that they had made Starbuck a woman kind of made me go "huh?" XD I read the book a looooong time ago so I don't really remember it very well. >_>;;

You should see it! It is quite good, although towards the end the writers ended up cornering themselves by trying to make the plot ~deep.~ The new spinoff series, Caprica, is good as well, surprisingly. (Obviously I'm so incredibly biased here with my opinion, but whatever).
Actually, when I learned that Starbuck was originally a man I did a double take, haha. She's such a badass, though!
I will try to watch it...at some point. When I have watched all the rest of the crap I need to watch! Did you ever watch the A-Team? Face was Starbuck in the original, so I was all whoa about him being a woman suddenly. X3
